While both types of scrubs exfoliate the skin, a pre-shave scrub is specifically formulated to prepare the skin for shaving. It typically contains finer, less abrasive exfoliating particles to gently prep the skin without causing irritation before shaving.
It's not recommended to use a pre-shave scrub daily as over-exfoliation can irritate the skin, especially before shaving. Using it 2-3 times a week or just before shaving should be sufficient to maintain smooth skin and enhance your shaving routine.
Look for gentle, natural exfoliants like jojoba beads or finely ground nuts. Ingredients like aloe vera, glycerin, or almond oil are great for moisturising and soothing the skin. Avoid harsh chemicals or very coarse particles that might irritate the skin before shaving.
